Turntable ConveyorClick to view story
An unassuming little conveyor with a vital purpose - to ensure that beer kegs have the right amount of amber nectar inside them. The unit was intended to supplement an existing conveyor line. Casks passing down the line would be randomly pushed onto the conveyor, which would weigh the casks before sending it back to the main distribution line (or holding onto it and summoning a supervisor if it was found to be too light or too heavy).
The conveyor has multiple sprocketed rollers, joined by chains to a bidirectional motor, allowing the unit to both receive - and return - the casks.
The black drums in each corner of the unit are the weigh cells. These send a signal to a device called a "summer", which averages the signal out (to take into account the keg not being entirely centered on the conveyor) before outputting to a PLC which makes decisions on the fate of the keg.----------------------
We have a short video snippet illustrating the unit under test in our factory
